Founded and directed by Rasta Thomas, Bad Boys of Dance made its world debut at Jacob’s Pillow with the performance seen here. The purpose of this ensemble is to serve as a laboratory for contemporary male performers to explore and share their artistry. Prior to founding the company, Thomas had secured an international reputation from his performances with the Kirov Ballet, the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and other prominent groups. He appeared on Broadway in Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out and as a guest artist with American Ballet Theatre in Othello. Thomas had previously appeared at the Pillow in 2001 in a special project, The Seven Deadly Sins, after having originally made his mark as a gold medalist at the International Ballet Competitions in both Varna and the U.S.
