Brooklyn-based choreographer John Heginbotham hails from Anchorage, Alaska, and he first came to Jacob’s Pillow as a student in Bessie Schönberg’s Choreography Workshop in 1990. A graduate of The Juilliard School, he performed with the Mark Morris Dance Group from 1998 to 2012, and he has also danced with the companies of Pam Tanowitz, Susan Marshall, and John Jasperse. He founded Dance Heginbotham in 2011, concentrating on highly structured, technically rigorous and theatrical choreography, frequently set to the music of contemporary composers. Dance Heginbotham collaborated with Brooklyn Rider on Chalk and Soot in 2014.
