Jacob's Pillow Dancers
Never an actual company per se, Jacob's Pillow Dancers is the name that most frequently identified Pillow students performing as part of the Festival. The tradition started as early as 1938, when Ted Shawn choreographed Women of Spain for a group of sixteen female students, and has continued with such notable choreographers as Ruth Page, Lynne Taylor-Corbett, Ralph Lemon, and Mark Morris. Among those seen in the casts of these student works have been future stars such as Terese Capucilli, Christopher Gillis, Nikolaj Hübbe, and Matteo. Recent seasons have featured students in the Pillow's Ballet Program in commissioned works by Margo Sappington, Wayne Eagling, Yuri Possokhov, and Karole Armitage.
