MOMIX is a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of Moses Pendleton. Since its founding in 1981, the company has been celebrated for conjuring a world of surrealistic images using props, light, shadow, humor, and the human body. Pendleton was one of the founding members of Pilobolus a decade earlier, and the name of both companies originated in the same way, adopting the title of an initial groundbreaking work. Conceived as a meditation on spirituality, Passion employs imagery from a variety of cultures rather than representing any one theological point of view. The full-evening work nonetheless offers its vision of a world where body, mind, and spirit are united as one.
