Trisha Brown Dance Company
Work on Trisha Brown's iconic Set and Reset was begun with commissioning funds awarded by the Pillow, and the Company has enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership culminating in the 40th anniversary celebration commemorated in the 2011 season. A founding member of the Judson Dance Theater along with Steve Paxton and others, Trisha Brown first performed at the Pillow in 1980 (with Stephen Petronio, her first male dancer, in the group), and returned frequently during the 1980s and 1990s. Brown has taught at the Pillow, created and premiered works here, performed on all three of the Pillow's stages, and conducted creative residencies both during the summer and in the off-season. Les Yeux et l'âme was adapted for the concert stage from Brown's production of the Rameau opera, Pygmalion.
