He later earned degrees from SUNY Purchase and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and has performing credentials with the companies of David Dorfman, Nathan Trice, and Bill T. Jones. His own company, Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion, includes dancers from various disciplines and diverse personal backgrounds. He presented a signature solo, Inventing Pookie Jenkins, at the Pillow in both 2009 and 2010. In 2011, he collaborated with Camille A. Brown on a unique presentation at the Pillow billed as Kyle and Camille, and he received the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award in 2012. Shortly after the performance seen here, the MacArthur Foundation announced that Abraham had been chosen for one of its prestigious “Genius” grants.
