Since embarking on its first national tour in 2002, Brian Brooks Moving Company has produced works for live performance and film that “shatter conventional notions of the human capacity for strength and endurance,” as described in Dance Magazine. Brooks began dancing as a teenager in Hingham, Massachusetts, moving to New York City in 1994. Brooks has been commissioned to create works for a number of festivals and university programs, and he choreographed and performed a duet with Wendy Whelan in 2013 as part of her Restless Creature project. Whelan and Brooks reunited for the full-evening Some of a Thousand Words in 2016.
