As a Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet since 2016, Taylor Stanley has worked with a variety of choreographers, achieving a breakout success (and winning a Bessie Award for Outstanding Performance) with Kyle Abraham’s The Runaway in 2019. Jacob’s Pillow commissioned this full-evening program to support Stanley’s desire to explore movement interests outside of the classical realm, sponsoring three separate Pillow Lab residencies to help build the repertory (which also included Jodi Melnick’s These Five). This solo was selected to salute the Pillow’s 90th Anniversary and Talley Beatty’s own performance of the work, first presented here nearly 75 years earlier.
