Both Darrah Carr and Seán Curran have dance training and experience that encompasses the worlds of traditional Irish culture and contemporary dance. Carr has also achieved distinction as a writer and scholar, while Curran is known for his performances with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and as a choreographer and director for opera and theater. Darrah Carr Dance was founded in 1998 while Seán Curran Company was formed in 1997. Both have appeared independently at Jacob’s Pillow, including this 2004 performance of Folk Dances for the Future. A previous collaboration, Dingle Diwali, was nominated for a Bessie Award in 2012. The work seen here was originally commissioned and produced by New York City’s Irish Arts Center.
