A native Houstonian, Roderick George began his training at Ben Stevenson’s Houston Ballet Academy and was a bronze winner of the Youth America Grand Prix in 2005, joining Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet that same year. He pursued a busy European performing career with Basel Ballett, Göteborg Ballet, and The Forsythe Company, and it was in Berlin that he founded his own company, kNoname Artist, before returning to the U.S. The work seen here was prompted by the lasting impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and its title encapsulates the toxic impact of society on the LGBTQIA+ community. In recognition of Venom, George was selected as the recipient of the inaugural Jacob’s Pillow Men Dancers Award.
