Founded in 1990 by Mark Howard, Trinity Irish Dance Company is recognized as the birthplace of progressive Irish dance, an innovative movement genre which later achieved wide visibility through Riverdance and all of the original production’s offshoots. The company is based in Chicago, where it performs and tours widely under the direction of Howard and associate artistic director Chelsea Hoy. The company has also collaborated with many noted contemporary choreographers, including works by Sandy Silva, Michelle Dorrance, and Melinda Sullivan for its 35th anniversary program at the Pillow.
