Marta Renzi helped inaugurate the Pillow’s Inside/Out series with the dance seen here, created while in residence in 1983. Since then, she has made dozens of works for her own company and others across the U.S. and abroad. Beginning in 2006, she has directed a number of short films which have screened in festivals worldwide, and she created her first feature film in 2017. Prior to forming her own company, Renzi performed with Douglas Dunn & Dancers, David Gordon’s Pick Up Company, and Kei Takei’s Moving Earth. She is the recipient of a New York Dance & Performance Award (a Bessie) for Vital Signs, and was the first recipient of a Dancing in the Streets Award as “a fearless explorer of all manner of unconventional sites, integrating art into everyday life.”
