Joshua D. Bloom

Joshua D. Bloom is a researcher, writer, community advocate, and non-profit professional.

His current research explores the history and local impact of Jacob’s Pillow and its relationship with the town of Lee that culminated in the June 2026 exhibit “Jacob’s Pillow in Lee, Mass.” at the Scolforo Gallery of the Lee Library, alongside a series of public programs and an essay series for The Berkshire Edge. Grounded in both rigorous research and deep community engagement, Bloom’s work highlights the power of place-based history to illuminate broader social and cultural dynamics.

Alongside his writing, Bloom is deeply engaged in community life in the Berkshires. He has held numerous leadership and volunteer roles, including serving on the Lee Youth Commission, the EPA Citizen Coordinating Committee, Lee Historical Society, and Lee’s 250th Anniversary Committee. As a volunteer cofounder of Lee Pride and moderator of a large local community forum, he has worked to foster inclusive civic dialogue and strengthen community connections. His contributions have been recognized with Volunteer of the Year honors from both the Lee Chamber of Commerce and Berkshire Pride in 2025.
