This award-winning contemporary dance company was founded in 2000 by Bill Coleman and Laurence Lemieux with a vision to create, produce, and present intimate productions as well as large-scale, site-specific events and spectacular stage shows, featuring prominent Canadian dancers. Choreographer James Kudelka forged a particularly strong relationship with Coleman/Lemieux, reconstructing his masterwork Fifteen Heterosexual Duets in 2006 and documenting this ambitious project in a book. Inspired by von Biber’s “Guardian Angel Sonata,” Kudelka conceived a series called See with a projected dozen different dances. The solo seen here in its world premiere was the first in this series. In 2017, Coleman left the organization and the company continues under Lemieux alone as Citadel + Compagnie.
