Focusing on the life cycle of a butterfly as a metaphor for human development and transformation, Cho-Mu took place in five different locations throughout the Pillow grounds. This section, known as “The Egg,” was staged on the banks of a man-made pond. This project paved the way for another residency by San Francisco Bay area artist Joanna Haigood, which eventually led to the development of Invisible Wings, based on the Pillow’s history as a stop on the Underground Railroad.
