Both teenaged students of Donny Golden’s at the time of this performance, Jean Butler and John Jennings would go on to greater fame. Jennings won the All-World Senior Stepdancing Championship and became a noted teacher, while Butler toured with the Chieftains before achieving wide acclaim as one of the original stars of Riverdance in the 1990s. Exploring the field of contemporary dance, she returned to Jacob’s Pillow 25 years after this performance for a Creative Development Residency in 2013, and once again for a Pillow Lab residency in 2019.
