Adam H. Weinert has enjoyed a multi-faceted Pillow relationship since 2003 when he first participated in the Contemporary Traditions program of The School at Jacob’s Pillow. Weinert’s interest in Ted Shawn intensified during a 2013 Research Fellowship in the Jacob’s Pillow Archives, and later encompassed the presentation of Shawn solos at the Museum of Modern Art and at both The Tate Britain Museum and The Tate Modern Museum. Weinert has also presented Shawn solos at the Pillow including Davon Rainey’s performance of Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen and an original work entitled MONUMENT. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Shawn’s Dance of the Ages, Weinert restaged this full-evening work in the same Pillow studio where it was first presented. Weinert has also been a primary force behind establishing Jacob’s Garden on Pillow land, reinterpreting this formative duet between Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn to commemorate the garden’s official opening.
