Inspired by Picasso’s The Old Guitarist, choreographer Stephanie Martinez ponders how art reflects life in this reflection on the fleeting aspects of human connection. The New York-based Ballet Hispánico, founded by Tina Ramirez in 1970, explores, preserves, and expands the passion and theatricality of Latine dance through the work of its company, school, and arts education programs. Under the direction of former company member and Luna Negra founder Eduardo Vilaro since 2009 (when the company presented Tito on Timbales here), Ballet Hispánico continues its mission to present a diverse repertory by renowned choreographers from around the world, including Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Geoffrey Holder.
