Founded by Andrea Guajardo and Martín Rodríguez in 2017, Ballet Neplanta is a New York-based company that fuses contemporary dance with Mexican folklórico. Their aim is to explore new interpretive ways of delving into cultural and historical “in-between-ness.” Guajardo’s background is in classical ballet and contemporary dance, while Rodríguez trained in traditional folklórico, and they aim to explore their diverse backgrounds through their company’s repertoire.
