Recognized as Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company, BalletX was founded in 2005 by Christine Cox and Matthew Neenan. Now under Cox’s sole direction, the company continues to challenge the boundaries of classical ballet, producing dozens of new works since its inception. Neenan performed with the Pennsylvania Ballet for more than a decade before being named as that company’s resident choreographer in 2007. He has since created works for companies throughout the U.S. in addition to his work with BalletX. The evening-length Sunset, o639 Hours was inspired by the true story of the inaugural trans-Pacific airmail flight, which ended in tragedy.
