Bebe Miller’s vision of dance and performance resides in her faith in the moving body as a record of thought, experience, and sheer beauty. This video documents one of her first performances at Jacob’s Pillow in 1986, just a year after founding her company. Since then, she has returned many times as a performer, teacher, and resident artist (including performances of Landing/Place in 2007). She was a Distinguished Professor in Dance at Ohio State University’s College of Arts and Humanities from 2000 to 2016, and continues to create and tour new work with her company. Seen here in an informal showing just before its official premiere, A Haven for Restless Angels of Mercy was later described in The New York Times as “a seemingly spontaneous burst of energy whose elements are woven together with an inherent orderliness.”
