The Los Angeles-based BODYTRAFFIC was founded in 2007 by Lillian Barbeito and Tina Finkelman Berkett, becoming one of Dance Magazine‘s “25 to Watch” in 2013. They quickly became known for their versatility, presenting works by a range of prominent contemporary dancemakers, including Richard Siegal and Micaela Taylor. Barak Marshall is one of Israel’s most celebrated choreographers, and he presented his MONGER at the Pillow in 2010. He is the son of seminal Yemeni dancer-choreographer-singer Margalit Oved, and he lovingly features her in this work, based in part on the true story of a family with eight sisters and a brother who lived near his mother in Yemen.
