Brother(hood) Dance! was formed in April 2014 as a duo that researches, creates, and performs dances by Orlando Zane Hunter, Jr. and Ricarrdo Valentine. They seek to inform their audiences about socio-political and environmental injustices from a global perspective, bringing clarity to the same-gender-loving African-American experience in the 21st century. Their work entitled Afro/Solo/Man was recognized as a 2020 Bessie honoree for Outstanding Production and Outstanding Visual Design. The work seen here was a world premiere, conceived to inaugurate Jacob’s Garden on a portion of the Pillow grounds that was once known as the Derby property.
