Originally launched in 1994 by Jacqulyn Buglisi and Donlin Foreman with associate founders Terese Capucilli and Christine Dakin, the company evolved out of the necessity to produce new dances, embrace young dancers, and bring audiences into the realm of dramatic dance. With a shared heritage in the Martha Graham Dance Company, the founders aimed to bridge cultural and geographical boundaries through theatrical dance. Two years after this Pillow debut engagement, the company returned with Jacqulyn Buglisi’s Requiem among other works, and the group continues today as Buglisi Dance Theatre.
