Founded in 2003, Cedar Lake specialized in acquiring and commissioning new works by emerging choreographers from throughout the world. Benoit-Swan Pouffer was the company’s director when they made their initial Pillow appearance on Inside/Out in 2006 and for the world premiere engagement of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Orbo Norvo in 2009 as well as for the performance seen here. In the company’s final Pillow visit in 2013, they presented Jo Strømgren’s Necessity, Again under the artistic direction of Alexandra Damiani. Didy Veldman was born in Holland, and she has been creating work since 1987 for companies worldwide including The Rambert Dance Company, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and Northern Ballet Theatre.
