Christopher K. Morgan & Artists is a contemporary company founded as a vehicle for Morgan’s choreographic exploration of social and cultural issues. Born in Orange County, CA, Morgan’s Native Hawaiian ancestry and wide-ranging international performance career influence his work. He also serves as Executive Artistic Director of Dance Place in Washington, DC, where he curates 40 weekends of dance annually and oversees a school for youth and adults. Pōhaku is the Hawaiian word for stone, and this work integrates storytelling, hula, modern dance, classical music, chant, and projection design to explore compelling universal themes in the story of Hawaii’s native people, including land loss and fractured identity.
