The artists of Cirque Barcode started working together in 2011 when Tristan Nielsen, Alexandra Royer, and Eric Bates met at the National Circus School of Montréal. The company was formally founded in 2019 when they presented their first theatrical creation, Sweat & Ink. Their second show, Branché, is a collaboration with the group Acting for Climate, conceived to realize their goal of more sustainable touring, making use of circus arts to draw attention to the climate crisis. Designed to be played in parks or forests and centered on group acrobatics, Branché is a celebration of the strength of community and our relationships to each other and to nature. It is intended to get people outdoors and inspire them by showing what is possible if we work together.
