Compagnia Teatro di Piazza o D’Occasione (TPO) was founded in 1981 in Prato, Italy. Devoted to creating highly visual and multidisciplinary works involving music, dance, art, sculpture, digital media, computer technology, lighting, and sound, TPO gears itself to all audiences with special attention to a child’s perspective. The company made its Pillow debut in 2008, alternating two full-length works that both incorporated an interactive onstage “carpet” and extensive audience participation. The presentation seen here utilizes classical mythology of the Mediterranean as a starting point, depicting the meeting of a sailor and a sea nymph.
