With roots in Algeria and training as a pharmaceutical doctor, Hervé Koubi decided to concentrate on a career as a dancer/choreographer. He studied extensively in France and has worked consistently there since the 1990s, creating works in eclectic styles. After learning of his own Algerian ancestry, he began developing a dance that would explore that connection, taking his title from a novel by Yasmina Khadra about a young man’s adventures during the Algerian war for independence.
