The French-Hispanic-Korean duo Sébastien Ramirez and Honji Wang, a couple both on and offstage, founded Company Wang Ramirez in Perpignan, France, in 2007. With both Catalonian and Spanish roots, Ramirez is a self-taught hip-hop dancer who has performed in the U.K. at Sadler’s Wells and Breakin’ Convention. Wang was born and raised in Germany by Korean parents, and she trained in martial arts and ballet before expanding into hip-hop. Together, they have developed a new choreographic language they describe as “urban Tanztheater.” Referring in an interview to their multi-cultural influences, Wang explained, “Everybody gets inspired by everybody!”
