After performing with dance companies in the Midwest and in Boston, Beth Soll formed Dance Projects, Inc./Beth Soll & Company in 1977. She directed the dance program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for twenty years, and has held a number of other faculty positions throughout the U.S. Her Pillow performances include this unusual 1988 appearance on Inside/Out, with an elaborate production inspired by the Shakers. This same subject was explored in a completely different approach by Tero Saarinen and The Boston Camerata. Soll is currently based in New York City and she teaches in the Dance and Theatre Department at Manhattanville College.
