First bursting into prominence with Savion Glover in Broadway’s Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk, Jason Samuels Smith has emerged as a multi-talented leader in the tap world. He won both an Emmy and an American Choreography Award for his Gregory Hines tribute which opened the 2003 Jerry Lewis/MDA Telethon. He has also created work for Dancing with the Stars and performed as a special guest on So You Think You Can Dance. The performance seen here was part of a rare two-week Pillow engagement by his company known as A.C.G.I (Anybody Can Get It). Among the musicians is Jason’s father, percussionist Jo Jo Smith, the legendary founder of Jo Jo’s Dance Factory. Smith returned to the Pillow in 2016 as one of the creators and performers behind And Still You Must Swing.
