Emanuel Gat was born in Israel in 1969, and his first encounter with dance occurred only six months before he joined the Liat Dror Nir Ben Gal Company at the age of twenty-three. He toured with the company throughout the world and created his first solo dance in 1994. Emanuel Gat Dance was founded in 2004 and has appeared at many important festivals worldwide. Following his Pillow engagement, Gat moved his base of operations to France, where he is in residence at the Maison Intercommunale de la Danse in Istres. One of the dancers seen here, Roy Assaf, returned to the Pillow with his own company in 2017.
