The Flying Karamozov Brothers have been performing since 1973, often using the tagline “Juggling and Cheap Theatrics.” After their beginnings as street artists in Santa Cruz, California, they evolved into a touring ensemble which has played at Lincoln Center, on Broadway, and on stages throughout the world, including a guest stint with the Grateful Dead. The company’s name is derived from the 19th century Fyodor Dostoevsky novel, and their stage personas share certain parallels with characters in the book. While only one original member of the company is still actively involved, the group continues to perform and tour.
