Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, James Whiteside began training at age nine and joined Boston Ballet II in 2002. He joined the corps de ballet of Boston Ballet in 2003 and rose through the ranks to become a principal by 2009. Recruited to American Ballet Theatre as a Soloist in 2012, he was named a principal dancer at ABT in 2013. In this debut of his new production company, Whiteside was joined by ABT soloist Cassandra Trenary, former Boston Ballet principal Melissa Hough, and actor/show-maker Jack Ferver. On the Water was created for Indianapolis City Ballet’s “Evening with the Stars” in 2015, and it was originally danced by Whiteside and Gillian Murphy.
