The work of Danny Buraczeski has always embodied his fertile imagination, pursuit of elegance, and an unabashed love for America’s great indigenous musical form: jazz. After a Broadway career appearing in musicals such as Mame and The Act, he formed the original New York-based JAZZDANCE in 1979. Buraczeski made his Pillow debut as a choreographer and teacher in 1985, followed by his company’s first Pillow performances in 1986. JAZZDANCE relocated to Minneapolis/St. Paul in 1989 in order to merge with Zenon Dance Company, then regained its autonomy in the early 1990s. From 2005 through 2018, Buraczeski was a professor at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts.
