She was paired with David Neumann in a unique program which included works by each choreographer as well as the world premiere of a brand-new duet. Melnick first gained prominence as a member of Twyla Tharp’s company in the early 1990s, and has also danced with Sara Rudner, Susan Rethorst, John Jasperse, and Jonathon Kinzel. She performed as a guest artist with the Trisha Brown Dance Company and since 2002 has been an assistant director to Brown, creating and restaging two operas. Melnick is the recipient of two Bessie Awards for sustained achievement in dance.
