First associated with Jacob’s Pillow as a student in 1998, Jonah Bokaer is now known internationally as a choreographer, media artist, artist space developer, and social entrepreneur. In addition to making his own work, he also collaborates with other important artists, choreographing many of Robert Wilson’s operatic productions. He is a founder of both Chez Bushwick and the Center for Performance Research, two Brooklyn venues of increasing importance. He was the youngest dancer ever to join the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, performing with them from 2000 to 2007. The work seen here, Curtain, was presented at the Pillow for the first time in the U.S., on the heels of another U.S. premiere presented by Bokaer in 2011. Most recently, Bokaer has presented Rules of The Game at the Pillow.
