Finnish choreographer Kenneth Kvarnström founded K. Kvarnström & Co in 1987 with the goal of producing one work each year that would tour both nationally and internationally. Working closely with his dancers and with lighting and set designers, Kvarnström draws much of his inspiration from his collaborators, also citing architecture and museum visits for the ideas that motivate his choreography. Kvarnström’s works have toured in most European countries and also in Africa, Israel, Japan, Latin America and the U.S. His work was first performed at the Pillow by Stockholm 59° North in 2000, and his own company’s presentation of Fragile two years later also marked the group’s U.S. debut.
