Kayla Hamilton is an eyesight-impaired maker who creates movement-based experience and uses audio description from inception to staging. Originally from Texarkana, Texas, Hamilton is now based in New York City, where she was part of the 2017 Bessie-award winning cast of the Skeleton Architecture. The work presented here centers on an access point that traditionally exists in the periphery of a performance: delivering audio descriptions live, by people who become an integral part of the movement. The distinct viewpoint of each descriptor (in this case, a Certified Movement Analyst) allows the audience to find insight and delight in the inherent subjectivity of watching and attempting to interpret something.
