A native of Taiwan where he graduated from the National University of the Arts, Kun-Yang Lin performed extensively with London’s Transitions Dance Company before relocating to New York City in 1994. There he danced with the companies of Martha Graham, Anna Sokolow, Janis Brenner, and others before founding Kun-Yang Lin Dancers in 1998. Lin is deeply invested in the dialogues between innovation and tradition, the individual and the collective, the visible and invisible — “in-between spaces” that he finds to be fertile ground for exploration. He dedicated the solo seen here “For my father and those we have lost.”
