Founded in Taiwan by choreographer Bulareyaung Pagarlava and renowned dancer Fang-Yi Sheu in 2007, LAFA & Artists made its official U.S. debut with this presentation. Both previously danced with Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, and Sheu is best known as a principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. The works on this program were developed in a residency at New York’s Baryshnikov Arts Center, where Sheu and Pagarlava were the first Asian dancers to be designated as Artists-in-Residence.
