After studying dance in childhood, LaTasha Barnes began training in hip-hop, popping, and house dance as an adult. This led to her study of Lindy Hop, and she is among the last generation to be mentored by Lindy icon Norma Miller. While continuing to study dance, she also completed a graduate degree in ethnochoreology at NYU, and her deep knowledge of African Diasporic forms suffuses her contemporary work. The Jazz Continuum interweaves vernacular jazz, hip hop, and house, emphasizing the way these vital forms continue to evolve.
