The company’s name is an amalgam of its two principal choreographers, Lee Sher and Saar Harari, both Israeli-born exponents of Gaga technique, the movement approach devised and practiced by Ohad Naharin. Though both began their dance careers in Israel (and both joined the Israeli Army at 18), they have been living and working in New York since 2004. Harari is principally known as a dancer and teacher, while Sher’s dance credentials are augmented by experience as both an actress and playwright. Together they create works that combine physical abandon with a sense of theatricality. The company made its Pillow debut in 2012 with the full-evening FAME.
