Among today’s most celebrated Bharatanatyam dancer/choreographers, Mythili Prakash made her solo debut in India at the age of eight and has since performed and toured worldwide. Initially trained by her mother, Viji Prakash, she has been mentored by Malavika Sarukkai and Akram Khan, and she continues to perform as a principal dancer in Khan’s company. Beyond the concert stage, she served as Ang Lee’s choreography assistant on his film, Life of Pi, in which she played the role of Pi’s wife. The work seen here was a world premiere, as was She’s Auspicious in the following season.
