Under the direction of Martine van Hamel with associate director Kevin McKenzie, New Amsterdam Ballet featured dancers from American Ballet Theatre and The Washington Ballet in works by Peter Gennaro and Ann Marie D’Angelo as well as its directors. The world premiere seen here was created by Christian Holder (1949-2025), a multi-faceted British-Trinidadian artist known for his work as a dancer, choreographer, painter, and cabaret artist. Hailing from a prominent artistic family (including his uncle, Geoffrey Holder), he based this narrative ballet on the 18th-century novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
