Since its founding in 1972, Pacific Northwest Ballet has become one of the largest and most highly-regarded ballet companies in the U.S. First achieving national prominence under the longtime direction of former New York City Ballet soloists Kent Stowell and Francia Russell, the company’s reins were taken over by the prominent NYC Ballet star Peter Boal in 2005. Boal has expanded the company’s repertory in many ways, including a complete evening of works by Ulysses Dove and a rare concert dance commission from Broadway’s Susan Stroman. The company’s 2017 Pillow engagement culminated in a world premiere by Jessica Lang. The work seen here was part of a program entitled “Ballet Coast to Coast” which also included dancers from the Boston Ballet and Houston Ballet.
