After training at the Toronto Dance Theatre and the Martha Graham School, Peggy Baker began her career in 1974 as a founding member of Toronto’s Dancemakers before joining the Lar Lubovitch Company and making her Pillow debut with that troupe in 1981. She joined Mikhail Baryshnikov and Mark Morris for the inaugural season of their White Oak Dance Project in 1990, the same year she made her debut as a solo artist. In the years since, she has won praise for the eloquence and depth of her dancing, and accolades for her collaborative partnerships. In 2003, she participated in a special project assembled for the Pillow entitled Doug Varone’s Short Fictions. The work seen here was one of four solos performed by Baker on a program shared with Molissa Fenley.
