Showdance champions and Broadway dance couple Pierre Dulaine and Yvonne Marceau began their partnership in 1973 and co-founded American Ballroom Theater in 1984. Dulaine and Marceau are four-time winners of the British Exhibition Championships, earned the 1993 Dance Magazine Award, and received the Astaire Award for Best Dancing on Broadway for their roles in Grand Hotel. Their efforts in dance education have been immortalized in the documentary film, Mad Hot Ballroom, and Dulaine’s activities were later fictionalized in Take the Lead with Antonio Banderas. The performance seen here was the first of their many appearances in the Ted Shawn Theatre.
