Leading off the season was a remarkable site-specific work created especially for the Pillow’s unique outdoor venue, Inside/Out. While the experience of being there can’t be replicated, this video comes close!

Joseph Wiggan, Josette Wiggan-Freund

Harmony: Tap In Motion, 2017

This brother-and-sister duo was featured in TIRELESS, a full evening of tap curated by Michelle Dorrance. Set to a trio of Duke Ellington compositions, this work blurred the lines between improvisation and choreography.

Reona Seo

AUN, 2017

Accompanied by her husband Takashi, Reona Seo was also featured in Michelle Dorrance’s TIRELESS. Audiences were astounded each night to witness the wildly original improvisations of this dynamic duo.

The lighting by Nicole Pearce and set devised by Pearce and Jessica Lang contributed enormously to the look and feel of this exuberant new work. In their inaugural Ted Shawn Theatre engagement, the company truly glowed!

Having recently returned to the stage after a hiatus of several years, Doug Varone celebrated with this new solo – a companion piece to a Chopin nocturne that he had choreographed 30 years earlier.

Pena Negra, 2017

Celebrating her first engagement at the Pillow (which included four U.S. premieres), Irene Rodríguez also unveiled this brand-new work inspired by a Garcia-Lorca poem.
